YOUR BLOCK ISLAND VACATION & ACCOMMODATIONS DETAILS
Children and Pets
We welcome children of all ages at The 1661 Inn, 1661 Guest House, Mitchell Cottage, Nicholas Ball Cottage, Dewey Cottage & Dodge Cottage. Children are not welcome at the Anchor House. Rates are based on double occupancy. There is no charge for children under the age of 5. The extra charge for additional guests ages six and older is $25.00 per night.
We do not have any cots available, although you are welcome to bring a sleeping bag or air mattress. We are happy to provide sheets and towels for you. Not all rooms are large enough to accommodate additional guests. Please be sure to confirm your accommodations if you are traveling with more than two guests.
Sorry, pets and support animals are not allowed in any of our hotel rooms or apartments. Service animals are permitted as required by law. Well behaved dogs are permitted at the Farm House. This is the only property we have that is pet-friendly.
Rate and Occupancy Policies
All guests should check in at The 1661 Inn on Spring Street. Guest rooms are usually ready for occupancy by 3:00 p.m. Please come to The 1661 Inn when you arrive to the Island. If your room is ready early, you may check-in early and if not you may leave your luggage in our lobby (security cameras on location). Luggage storage is also available upon departure.
Breakfast
Unfortunately, Covid Regulations mean that we can’t serve our famous Champagne Buffet Breakfast for the 2020 season. We are planning on having it back on the menu for 2021 and guests will receive a discounted rate of $15.00 per person. Through October 2020, we are trying out a variety of ideas for “breakfast snacks” to see what we can offer and as a thank you for coming during the pandemic, whatever we are offering when you are here will be complimentary for our guests. From November through April, we will not be offering breakfast.
Wi-Fi
There is free wi-fi available at the following buildings: The 1661 Inn, Guest House, Mitchell Cottage, Nicholas Ball Cottage, Dewey Cottage and Dodge Cottage. There is no wi-fi available at the Anchor House or the Hendrickson House. Internet service on Block Island is slower than what guests are typically accustomed to finding. You will be able to check emails, browse the internet, etc. You will have difficulties streaming.
Air-Conditioning
There is air-conditioning in the rooms in following buildings: The 1661 Inn, Guest House, Mitchell Cottage, Nicholas Ball Cottage, Dodge Cottage, Hendrickson House and Anchor House. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms at the Dewey Cottage.
Parking & Bikes
There is free outdoor parking available for all of our guests at The 1661 Inn and at our farm. There is very limited parking behind the Dewey Cottage, although there is additional street-side parking available. There is no parking available at the Dodge Cottage, Hendrickson House, or the Anchor House, although you are welcome to park at the farm. There are outdoor bike racks available at all of our buildings. Unfortunately, we do not have any indoor bike storage available. Fire Marshall regulations prohibit bringing bicycles into your rooms or in the hallways and this is strictly enforced. We do suggest that you bring a lock with you.
Deposit & Cancellation Policy
All stays must be pre-paid in full at the time of reservation. All cancellations are charged a fee of 10% of the deposit amount and must be made in writing at least 15 days prior to arrival. In the fourteen days immediately prior to arrival the full deposit is non-refundable and no changes are permitted to the reservation.
COVID Exception: If Block Island “closes” to visitors due to state or local regulations, we will waive the cancellation fee for refunds in the form of a gift card for future use. All credit card refunds will be charged the 10% cancellation fee.
Because of credit card regulations, all cancellations for reservations within two weeks of arrival must be received in writing. You may reply to this email. Please be sure to note your confirmation number and your name. If you have booked through an on-line reservation service (i.e. Expedia, Hotels.com, Booking.com, etc.), you will need to cancel directly through that service. They will then notify us in writing of your cancellation.
If you are cancelling within two weeks of arrival, your reservation is non-changeable and your deposit is non-refundable. However, if we can re-book your stay to someone else, you will receive a gift certificate (less 10% cancellation fee) for any portion above your deposit amount that we are able to re-rent.
For group reservations (ten rooms or more), advance notice of six weeks is required for multiple cancellations or changes to the reservations.
The only transportation related exceptions to our policy are if the “regular” ferry from Pt. Judith, RI is cancelled. If you are travelling from New London, CT; Montauk, NY or Newport, RI, please allow sufficient time to drive to Pt. Judith, RI so you will not forfeit the charge for your room for that night. These boats are more likely to cancel in inclement weather.
Please be sure to check ferry schedules closely so that you do not forfeit your deposit.
If you are planning on flying to Block Island, please allow sufficient time to take the ferry if the planes are not flying due to foggy or bad weather so you will not forfeit the charge for your room for that night.
If the ferry from Pt. Judith is not running due to poor weather conditions, our policy is as follows: If the ferry is cancelled throughout your entire stay you have a choice of a refund or gift certificate towards another stay (10% cancellation fee is waived). If the ferry is cancelled only on the first day of your stay and/or for part of the day on the day of arrival, then you have your choice of coming for the remainder of your scheduled visit (with no responsibility for the first night) or a gift certificate to join us another time (a $25 cancellation fee is applied).
We recommend the purchase of travel insurance to protect your vacation investment.
Quiet Season Visits: If you are visiting the Island between Columbus Day and mid-May, please note that you will find dining options to be limited. During these dates (particularly December through March), there are sometimes days when there are no full service restaurants open and the restaurants that are open do not always have predictable schedules. The grocery store is open year-round with a consistent schedule. The only ferry that runs year round is from Pt. Judith, RI (www.blockislandferry.com).
